Class Statement of Faith

We believe in God – who cannot be fully described – but who we know is fully loving, merciful and holy.  We proclaim God to be the King of Kings, the Queen of Queens and the Lord of Lords.  We believe that God created all that is good and works miracles everyday through ordinary people.

We believe in Jesus Christ, who is the Messiah and Son of God.  He is our savior, shepherd and compass.  We believe that Jesus, born as both human and divine, was and is the model human.  He was the most selfless and loving being who ever lived.  We believe that Christ died for our sins so that we could have eternal life.  We believe that Jesus loved and loves all people, was and is a miracle worker, forgave sinners in his death and still forgives us today in the blink of an eye.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, who sustains, comforts, and renews us.  He helps us to help others and to tell the story of Jesus Christ.  We believe that the Holy Spirit is God’s constant and loving presence in our midst.  When God answers our prayers, it is the Holy Spirit who delivers the message.  She is the busybody, the worker bee of the Holy Trinity.

We believe in the Trinity – God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit – separately and as a whole.  We trust what is written in the bible as God’s truth for us.  We believe that the Church is Christ’s body in the world.  God wants to use us as tools for mending wounds and building bridges of peace.  We believe that the House of God is our shelter and home and the place where we are accepted, forgiven and loved.    We trust that the sacraments are God’s gifts of grace to us.  We believe that in baptism God starts us on the path of faith and in the Lord’s Supper God reminds us that Christ walks that path with us.  We believe that death is not the end, but a new beginning with God in heaven.  We believe all of these things, confident that God’s plans for our lives and work in the world are gifts that we can trust.  Amen.
